Very possible. However, only 20 L-36 with M-35 were ever made. How many also had C-60, I do not know. My expectation would be the majority of them. In those days automatic transmissions and air conditioning sort of "went together". In other words, the folks that wanted automatic transmissions in a Corvette also wanted air conditioning.

As a matter of fact, I have 2 NOS torque converters for 1966 Corvettes with L-36 and Powerglide. Now, why would a guy like me have acquired these? That's a good question; a VERY good question.

Yes, there were 20 manufactured for 1966 and many more for 1967.

Were the Powerglides only coupled to the 390 HP 427 for 66 and 67?

                Re: Corvette 1966 options

Chevy built many of BB with powerglides. Not just in Corvettes I just got done restoring a 67 L36 with a M35 and C60.

yes Steven but in 67 you could get a M35 with the L68 427/400.

                  ok I just looked up the G M heritage shows a 390 hp avail.with a P G.
on another note ,today we had our 1st opportunity to drive the corvette with it's new 330/350 crate engine (streets in the north returning to black top).Had a ques. Joe. G M specs for this engine call for setting the timing without the vac.can @ 10*BTDCat 650 RPM.and to keep the vac. can out of the picture "

                    Francis -

Initial timing is always set with the vacuum advance disconnected - nothing new there. However, I can't imagine why they want the engine to be operated with only centrifugal advance - must be an emission-related concern, as I can think of at least four reasons why they SHOULD run with vacuum advance.

Just looking to be close to what it was,and drive for finn.
Do you think G M wants it this way to protect their posterior ?

That 350/330 crate engine is a generic replacement for any small-block Chevy, not for any specific year or model, but GMPP sets up most of their crate engines these days to be emission-friendly. Set it up with the same timing and advance curve the car had originally, using the vacuum advance, and you'll REALLY enjoy it.
