New Year's Day Distributor?

I could use help deciphering the codes from a distributor I recently purchased on ebay. Its band reads:
1111194 DELCO REMY 8 A 1

According to the Black Book 1111194 is for a 1967 300hp, mt.

But doesn't 8 A 1 mean January 1, 1968?

And did the Delco Remy factory really work on New Year's day?

I believe you deciphered it correctly. If your certain it's a 194 distributor look for another band.

January 1, probably a prank. lots of 194 built as service replacements I bet, thus the date..

I may be wrong but the 194 distributor was used on the 68 M/Y

1111194 was used in 67 and 68 for the 327/300 engine, and yes, 8A1 decodes as January 1st, 1968. AC Delco sometimes worked holidays so it's possible.
