    69 Horn Relay

The text on pg 87 of the 68-69 TIM&JG concerning '68 and '69 horn relays isn't all together clear to me. It states that the '68 plastic base is white and '69 is black. However, in the next paragraph it states that there was a part number change in '69 at about SN 9000. This makes me wonder if the color change occurred with the part number change. Would early '69's with part number 1115862 horn relays still have black plastic bases or did the white base 862's carry over into early '69 production with the color change occurring with the part number change?

Just checking to see if the 68/69 folks have awoken from their slumber.

      Re: 69 Horn Relay

Floyd, the 1115862 was used for 1968 and early production 1969 up to approx. S/N 9000 (late November/early December, 1968). The 1115890 was used after that for the remainder of the 1969 model year and all of 1970 as well. Usually the 862's are white (more of an opaque actually) plastic, but I have seen 862's with black plastic as well so you can't always go by that. The 890's are always black plastic.

So a white base 862 would be considered acceptable for an Oct 2, 1968 build?

Yes, since that's before the changeover date.
