Was going through my '65 AIM, to verify if I had the correct fuse rating installed on my air tank car, and was amazed at the odd-ball variations, depending on options. Some of this will probably also apply to '63, '66 and '67 models.
Thought I'd list them here, and welcome any comments, or pointing out errors in my conclusions. I'm referring to the fuse panel assy, on the inside firewall just above the dimmer switch. There are six "slots", and the heater (blower) fuse occupies the 2nd slot down from the top. It is marked "HEATER" above and "10A" (amps) on the right edge; (UPC 12, sheet B1).
Base cars take the 10 amp fuse, as expected; (UPC 1 ASM, sheet D6). The exceptions follow:
C48 optioned "Less Heater Equipment" (a.k.a. heater delete) convertibles have NO fuse in this slot, as you'd expect. But C48 coupes still need the 10 amp for the rear compartment exhaust blower, found in '64 and '65 coupes without the 36.5 gal tank. Big tank coupes with C48 have no rear blower, so use the convertible rear electrical harness, (UPC 12, sheet C4, item 3) and (UPC Z01, sheet 1, item 3). I assume they also would have no fuse.
Air Conditioned cars take a 30 amp fuse in this slot (UPC C60, Sheet E2, item 6). And of course, the engine compartment C60 electrical harness has the in-line 30 amp fuse, so that makes two 30 amp fuses for this option.
In conclusion, the heater/blower fuse panel slot can have NO fuse, a 10 amp, or a 30 amp. Any combinations I've forgotten ?
