My trailer does not have the escape door. I wish it did. I'm fairly slender and while I can enter/exit my car via the open door, doing so requires some contortion. If I don't get the car positioned dead center in the trailer or perhaps slightly to the right, getting in and out is almost not possible.

Road side door make it easy, floor build up is 2- 2X10x12' per side. Photos of my 20' Pace with 2-5,000# axles.

I don't have an escape door. I'm 6'5" and about 250#. I always winch my cars into the trailer. I just drive it partially onto the ramp, connect the winch to the front crossmember with a strap, tighten the winch, release the brake and place in neutral, I winch it part way in and then attach the rear straps to the frame slots from the side of the car just outside of the trailer. (Straps were pre-length set to allow the car to go to the correct location in the trailer). Then I finish winching and tie the front down with straps and relieve the winch cable tension. I don't need to crawl under the car to secure the rear, and its an "easy reach" to strap the front "A" arms. Rear straps have hooks that fit into the frame hole where the seat belt cables are.

          Re: Enclosed trailer experience

I designed my own Pace V-Nose Aerosport 24'-8.5' W Enclosed Trailer with the following options and have been very pleased with it...

          >> Inside Spare Tire and Compartment - Built in trailer floor...

          >> LED Exterior Lights...

          >> Qty. 2 - 12V Exterior Loading Lights...

          >> Qty. 3 - 12V Interior Lights...

          >> 54" HD Side Door (Escape) w/HD Security Bar Lock...

          >> Medium Duty Rear Ramp w/ Qty. 2 - HD Security Bar Locks...

          >> Seamless Black Coin Flooring...

          >> White Vinyl Ceiling...

          >> LED Back-Up Lights (Extremely Useful)...

          >> Winch System - 12V 6000# w/Remote w/separate battery...

          >> E-Track Floor with Tire Nets for each wheel (Highly Recommended)...

          >> Beavertail...

          >> 10,000# Axles w/Electric Brakes each axle...

There is another access door on the opposite side of the trailer equipped with an HD Security Bar Lock which allows access to the front end of the car for tie down purposes...

I don't have any D-rings in my trailer... I had the E-tracks installed front to rear of the trailer and centered on each wheel where you drive in the trailer and each wheel splits the E-Track... With Tire Nets, you are securing the tire to the floor on the E-Track and you are not pulling the suspension down toward the floor... The car rides on its normal suspension and is not in a bind... Very fast tie-down with the wheel nets and the car is super secure...

Another comment to add to someone who posted it before, the V-Nose doesn't help with fuel economy (at all) but it doesn't move around as much when meeting oncoming traffic (Read 18 Wheelers) with all of the wind they are pushing or trailer side loading in extreme cross wind conditions...

The V-Nose does give you some extra storage space in the front of the trailer which is always a good thing...

          Good Luck with Your Purchase..!!!

I bought mine from Trailer World in Kentucky. Great people and they are very ethical. Twenty foot slope nose for under $10,000. Have taken my C4 on long trips with no problems.

I really like the way Stephen tied down his car. I am looking for a trailer too. I like the Featherlite. They are a little pricey, but I want a safe ride for myself, and the car. Great information gentleman, thanks Dan Termeer (2325)

Have two trailers from Trailer World and have known the owners since the 70's. Great trailers at a wonderful price and they have been around since the 80's. Trailers that is!!!!

                    Re: Enclosed trailer experience

I replaced the tires on my trailer because of "age"; they were far from worn out. My trailer came with load range "D" (5000# axles) but I purchased load range "E" tires as an added load measure. As stated previously, tires are the weak link in most trailers.

                        Michael,
I'm a long time Trailex owner that has towed numerous Corvettes all over the country. Nothing tows like it., stops like it or handles like it. Because of the 1600 pound weight it can be towed with a lesser tow vehicle. I paid $11,000 for mine. If someone offered that to me today I wouldn't sell it. I never could understand why people complain about the price unless they just simply can't afford it. We get what we pay for and the well made things hold their value. There was one on the NCRS Classifieds recently for a fair price.

Size does matter,,,,, get bigger axles , and biggest tire available , you won't regret it

United Trailer from Trailer World, 20 Ft. Slope Nose. I strap over the tires on the e-tracks. Dave, best of all, the wheel wells are very low. Not a bad starting price on this one. Here is the link:http://www.trailerworld.com/2008-uni...-5Wt%7Cam.html

didn't united buy up lots of companies like wells cargo and haulmark? these two are made near me in waco, texas and having owned a wells cargo from 1990-2005 (wish i never sold it) can say it was great trailer and handled well, was 20' box and dry weight 3100 lbs. I even towed once with total weight of 9300 lbs due to faulty scale and still towed well and no damage after the fact, lucky maybe.
