    N-11 exhaust .. Am I correct?

Restoration question on N-11 exhaust and mufflers. I read some threads on N-11 exhaust but they are 3 years old. Purchasing exhaust for my 65 365 hp roadster restoration project, would I be correct with accuracy and best product to go with the Gardner exhaust with off road N-11 mufflers. (I'll go with aluminized to keep it pretty longer) and stamp from LICS that has two lines; line 1 "Off Road" and line 2 "Assembly" in yellow ink/paint ? Then spray the mufflers and forward with blackout from the outside of the exhaust aiming at its side from about 15 degrees? Would all of this be correct based on current information and thinking ??
I would of course position exhaust correctly and then mig mufflers to pipes..... Thanks Tim

    Tim,
Allens offers them all welded together mufflers and pipes. The difference in Off Road" and Assembly is there is on less baffle.

None of the offerings are true correct especially with a plating.

I put a set of Gardner N11's on my 63 300hp car. The sound is great. Just install it, align the pipes then weld the mufflers up.

You might want to ask Gardener if they also have the carbon steel construction available (I think they do.....), and ask if the sound is more 'true' to the OEM system.
I have an aluminized N11 on my 66' - 390hp) from another supplier & the sound is nothing like the GM original replacement (over the counter) N11 system, which is on my 65'-365hp car.
After all.....you're going through all this effort for the 'raw' sound of an N11 system. Just my thoughts.....

Aluminized systems all have a standard deduction, so it really does not matter who makes them from a judging point of view. The point loss is the same.

None of the systems are entirely correct, Even the Gardner, though they are the closest in appearance.
Waldron Exhaust went through the trouble of duplicating the N11 muffler shape/baffles/material a few years ago, and they are now sold through Corvette Central.

Carbon steel Gardner pipes with Waldron/CC mufflers would probably be the closest in both appearance and sound.
However, then you have to deal with rust.

The muffler sat a bit lower than the body. The blackout on the muffler was there as camouflage to not take away the look of the car. I not recall anything to do with rust.

"then you have to deal with rust."

Allen has 304 stainless, no rust, and their off road system sounds great. The difference in points is negligible, but the performance and lasting for ever is a banner plus. Think of it as a benefit base clear urethane has over lacquer as an upgrade.
