    Try a set of Michelin Symmetry WSW 205/75-15. The WSW is narrow, about 9/16"

      Ralph,

      The word is that Michelin no longer makes a 205/75R-15 WSW

        hey. Thanks for the Cooper tire pics. I agree that it looks good and the cleaner side wall. I also like the side tread better than the uniroyal tire.

          Would the uniroyal tires score better if the car got judged?

            The 'Symmetry' in 215/70-15 (near-correct diameter) is long gone, and it's too bad. I got one of the last sets in 2012. They are a great tire. White wall is a crisp 3/8" & the white stripe extends 'out' slightly from the sidewall. Perhaps there's a set lurking around somewhere.

              I think if you don't have correct bias ply it doesn't matter. Same deduct. I'm no judge though

                Gents: What is a larger tire; the 205/75/R15 or the 215/70/R15? It appears that the former 205 is. For my 66, I'd like something a bit beefier than the 215/70/15s that are on there now (and that will not cause fiberglass damage).

                    John: Thanks a lot, this was very helpful. Question to NCRS Forum: Does a 215/75/15 fit on the '66 Corvette?

                      The 205/75-15 and the 215/70-15 are the same diameter (27.1"), but the 215/70 has a slightly wider cross-section; the 205/75 has zero risk of rubbing, but the 215/70 can rub under certain conditions (full-lock driveway entry, etc.). I wouldn't put 215/75's on my car. Folks tend to forget that the midyear tire-to-body clearance envelope ("tire flop") was designed in 1960 around a 6.70-15 tire on a 5.5" rim, and the midyear is very unfriendly to larger tire sizes and non-stock wheel widths/offsets.

                        Hey all;

                        Another option.

                        While getting the tires rotated on the truck this AM I saw another option on the wall.

                        This is a Firestone Affinity 215/70/15 and the WW measures exactly 3/4" (I checked to see if avail in a 205. They said no)

                        In a 205/75 I'm leaning toward the Cooper and in 215 these Firestone's look really good. (If you are so inclined for a little more rubber on the road)

                            I ended up getting the Uniroyal Tiger paws. I couldn't find a set of the Coopers locally to get a good look at them and the local dealers said that if they ordered them I would be obligated to take them. Another local dealer had the Uniroyal's and I liked their looks and the 11/16"whitewall. They look good on the car. I will try to take some pictures soon. I think the Trendsetters looked good also (in pictures I saw), so it was a matter of being able to see what I was getting at the time and the easy of availability.

                              update;

                              I had my tire shop send in one of the Uniroyal 205/75 to compare with look with the Cooper.

                              I liked the more traditional tread of the Cooper especially on the edge. also the Cooper has a cleaner side wall. The WW is within 1/16" of each other.

                              I went with the Cooper and will post some pics of them on the KO's. Hope this helps
