how many Corvette parts on a 64 Imp. chassis

My brother has an extra un hit 64 Imp. chassis .He only needs the power steering parts . Are the upper & lower front control arms the same as a 63/67 Corvette ? The uppers still have the orig ball joints . What about any brake drums or backing plates ?

    Bill------

The upper control arms and ball joints are the same between 58-64 Impala and 1963-82 Corvettes.

The lower control arms are different. They are very similar but somehow different. I don't know what the differences are.

The lower ball joints are the same

The upper and lower control arm shafts are the same.

The front brake backing plates and brake drums are the same but, of course, only through 1964 for Corvettes.

      Bill,

My 1963 & 1964 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Oct. 1962 & Oct. 1963) list GM # 3832349 as the upper left arm asm. and GM # 3832350 as the upper right arm asm. for 1963-1964 PASS., CORVETTE models in Gr. 6.168.

The 1958-1962 PASS. (exc. TAXI) upper left arm asm. is listed as GM # 3749381 and the upper right arm asm. is listed as GM # 3749382 in my 1963 parts catalog.

GM # 3749381 was replaced with GM # 3832349 in July 1963 and GM # 3749382 was replaced with GM # 3832350 in May 1963 as per Chevrolet Parts History.

The ball joints are included with the arm assemblies. I do not the difference between the 1958-1962 and the 1963-1964 arm assemblies.

Thanks Joe but the upper control arm shaft has a big curve in it so its not the same .

Yes, I was mistaken on that. The 63-82 Corvette upper control arm shaft was the same as 1965-70 Chevrolet passenger car.

The front backing plates are very similar to the 63 and 64 corvette and will fit but there are some small differences in appearance.

The 56-62 Vettes and 55-64 pass car rearend center sections are 100% interchangeable. Of course, they will have different casting dates and stamped gear ratio codes. If the rear axle assembly is still intact, the 64 REAR brake drums are the same as all four 53-62 Vette drums.
