    Re: 72 base engine valve covers

    Alan,

    I had been planning on this year at Carlisle for several months now. I've got a 72 LT-1 with air conditioning that is also in need of restoration. I was planning on Carlisle in search of parts for that car, but now that I've got my original car back, the LT-1 will have to wait.

    I grew up in Maryland during the muscle car era, and still have several friends back there from our teenage street racing days. We're all a hell of a lot smarter now, but I've convinced two of them to meet me at Carlisle in August. It should be a great time. I'm forecasting some beer drinking, but probably no racing.

    I've got a busy summer planned. Bloomington in June, NCRS National in July, Carlisle in August, Texas NCRS Regional in October, Lakeland in January; and then maybe I'll have enough confidence to start taking one of my cars apart.

      Michael;

      If any of the valve covers I just posted pictures of will work for you, they are yours for the shipping costs.
      Let me know.

        By the way, here are links to the old discussions about base motor valve covers for 1971-1972

            Mike,

            Look at Pat Hulst's photo gallery of his '72

              Hi James,
              just looked at the photos of your friends 72. What a beautiful car, my goal is to have my 73 look just like that down the road. The photos are a great source of information as to what things should look like and what finish they should have.I did notice that there is no A.I.R. System on the car, and there are no visible plugs in the exhaust manifolds, I always look for the smog stuff, because I'm getting all the parts together to begin installing all that on my 73, which is very similar to the 72 base. I guess my real question would be,can a car get top flight without a smog pump? If so, I've wasted a ton of $

                Only 1972 Corvettes with base motors delivered in California had AIR equipment.
                Yes, a Corvette can get Top Flight without required AIR sustem, but almost everything else has to be right.
