    65 rear spring center bolt

    what is the torque setting for the center bolt on a 65 std. rear spring ?

    Bill -- all that's said in the '63 Shop manual, section 4 figures 21 and 22 is "tighten securely" (after assembling the leafs and liners).

    Same words in the '66 shop manual. I'd use up to the torque specified in standard bolt tables for 5/16" fine thread (say 10 ft-lbs). It will probably turn before that. The spring/liner stack should be held together in a C-clamp while tightening center bolt.

        it should be redone after the car has been reassembled also
