    Distributor Recurve Service

    Can someone make a solid recommendation to recurve my LS-5 distributor to factory specs? Appreciate any suggestions for guys who specialize in our cars. Thanks much! Pat

        Assuming it's set up with a more performance oriented spark advance map, why would you want to go back to OE specs? The OE centrifugal curve is too short and lazy, and the VAC is lazy and set up ported. The map is set up for emission control, not performance or fuel economy.

        About 30 centrifugal all in by 3000-3500, 8-10 initial and a B26 VAC set up for full time vacuum advance would be pretty close to ideal.

          Very true. The stock curve is very conservative. After I got my distributor back from Lars I now have my initial timing at 16* on my stock 250hp '63 coupe...way above specs.

          The car has much snappier response and no bad effects on economy and idles like a dream.

            Frank, so you are running approx 30* idle timing with the V/A connected?

                Prob close - haven't measured it with vac advance attached. This is my curve after Lars was done with my distributor.
