original valve covers and pcv valve

Duke Williams (22045) Crankcase ventilation 101 post from 3/27/2000 as well as others and it sounds like all the concerns with NO pcv on the valve covers can be somewhat alleviated with the design of the EPS intake manifold #2703

My question: has anyone used the combination of original valve covers with no oil fill or pcv with the EPS intake manifold #2703?

P.S. Recent new member and first posting. The 62 fuelie was bought by my dad in 62 and was the car my parents drove me home from the hospital in when I was born. Now the car has been given to me as my dad has passed; not really relevant information to my question but it seems this Org and discussion board is as much about the love and life of these cars as it is the technical side. I thank you for any help as I begin my long term journey to an all original restoration.

If you have a vented oil fill cap you can use this newer PCV setup from Corvette Central and then run your script valve covers:

This will only work if the block has provisions for a road draft tube. If it happens to be a newer block (i.e. 1968 or later) it will not have provisions for a road draft tube.

Congratulations on thoroughly researching the archives, and your car has a great story behind it! I remember that discussion about PCV systems fifteen years ago!

As Joe said, if you have an early block with a hole next to the distributor for a crankcase vent outlet you can implement an early PCV system design fairly easily. IIRC someone also posted photos of a drilled manifold to accept a PCV outlet on a later block without the rear outlet position.

The later systems with the inlet on one valve cover and the outlet on the other are functionally better because the early system did not ventilate the rocker boxes very well, but the early system was certainly better than the old road draft tube, both from a functional standpoint and, fuel economy, and HC emissions standpoint.
