Attention Joe Lucia: Joe what application is this sender for-P/N 6425827 ? It sure doesn't look like the original one from my 64. Thanks in advance. Jack J.

Jack, I'm not Joe, but the 6425827 was superseded by the 6428065 in October of 1968, and the 6428065 is shown in my October, 1972 P&A 30B as being used on the 63-67 (except 36 gallon tank), and 65-67 (except 37.5 gallon tank). Maybe someone with a late 1967 or early 1968 P&A can verify this for you.

The GM #6425827 was used in PRODUCTION and once available in SERVICE for 1965-67 Corvettes. It was also SERVICE for 1963-64 Corvettes for several years.

Jack - How 'different' is the sending unit from your '64 to the one I have in my relatively early VIN, 4212, 65 Coupe?

Guys,

Here is a pic of an NOS 6425827 and an original from a 1964.

There IS no difference in the design but small differences in wiring and connectors.

Both work the same and read accurately.

The thing I don't understand about this is that the 6425827 was discontinued and superceded in 1968. So, I don't understand how any NOS example of the 6425827 could have a parts tag with a bar code on it as the one you pictured.

I didn't say I was not convinced, I just said that I did not understand it. Apparently, the old part number was somehow "brought back" but I cannot figure out why.
