    Gaskets

I'm ready to replace gaskets on my RC15 radiator cap ( rubber), oil cap( fiber), and, gas cap(paper) . How do you get these stretched to fit without tearing or cutting

    Re: Gaskets

I don't know about the radiator and oil cap but I used a a pair of dividers to measure the gas cap gasket on my car. I then used a compass (set to match the divider measurements) to lay out two concentric circles on a piece of heavy weight brown card stock that I had --- I then carefully cut the gasket out of the card stock with an exact-o knife and #11 blade. If you measure correctly the gasket should be a press fit. Accuracy counts as the card stock is not going to stretch (obviously). Pretty cheap, fast and easy --- and it judges out just fine.

The fuel cap gasket can be replaced as described. However, I don't know of any way to replace the radiator cap and oil fill cap (valve cover type) without disassembling the caps. That presents a significant problem because the cap has to be re-riveted to reassemble it.

I agree with Joe --- you might try Pete Lindahl in the NM Chapter --- he does some very nice work with radiator and over flow caps ---
