I continue to learn!!! Actually, I have owned the car for about 30 years and given up several times. The knowledgeable support of long time members such as the two of you, is very valuable. Thanks again.

David, One thing I will always remember about Rochester Products and St. Louis is this. One time Frank Sciabica of RP told a large group of NCRS members the following.
You NCRS people think everything went ABC around here (RP) and expect that the fuel injections were that way also. Well it just didn't happen guys. It just didn't happen.
Frank said they had lots of trouble with various units. So they put them a side and worked on them. He said the bean counters were very upset with the fuel injection project as it definitely was not a money maker. Frank said they were told to use up all the castings laying around. And so they did. '57's are all over the board with mismatched castings and very confusing.
So when looking at FI's you see guys look at them with an open mind as anything is possible.

One of the worst abortions from RP is the 7017300 unit. They made many variations of those. Some that would boggle your mind.
That is not to say that judges are supposed to pass every poc they see out there.

A little more trivia. The GM Training centers United Delco classes used school units for their classes. Units made up of parts. They didn't have to run. Just look like a fuel injection. Put RP didn't put the usual numbers on the ID tags for those.
For example: A '57 FI unit with the Model number or Units number of 7014538. If a restorer gets one of those to do for a judged car look out.
It's a part unit made up of anything laying on the shelves.

Chevy was famous for selling parts for Corvettes that were one that fit all. You know the routine.
Here's one. 7017370. That is a service replacement unit for 57 to 62.
I have seen 4 of those. They are dead nuts '62 unit and just need a new tag that reads 7017360 for '62. JD

Thanks Jim, Yes we all owe a thanks to Brian for what he has done for NCRS since early 70's. I remember that what I loved about "The Restorer" the most was getting Brian's technical articles and copying them.

We really should have another post sometime just on Brian. John
