My 68 convertible is currently in the process of final body and prep work for paint. The body was removed from the frame, the frame repaired and detailed, front and rear suspension refurbished to make it a roller and then the body was returned to the frame. Frame was shimmed, doors, hood, deck lid, headlight doors, wiper door, rear valance, bumpers, etc. were reinstalled to get an initial fit. Now the guy doing the final adjusting and fitting of everything to get the alignment and gaps right is asking if we should reinstall the engine and trans before finalizing the pre-paint work. My original intention was to have it painted as a roller and then assemble everything, so I don't really have the engine and trans ready to go in. I know that the frame on the 68 has a good bit of flex in it, so I too am now somewhat concerned that if everything is fitted without the weight of the engine/trans in the frame, once installed I will be back to square one with the fit. So, looking for suggestions/opinions/experience.
Thanks,
John Brough
