Adding 1oz mineral oil to the receiver- R12 system

I have to change out my 2nd receiver- drier due to cross threading. Could I add 1 oz of mineral oil directly into the receiver drier, if so does it matter which side I put it in? Then I would evacuate. Dutch

I only know the oil used with R12 systems is 525 oil. In the last air conditioning work I did I added oil to the accumulator on a 1996 vehicle changing out the compressor and accumulator and orifice tube. Is 525 oil a mineral oil?

Yes, thats a fine place to put it. Really the only place you dont want to add oil is close to the compressor inlet due to slight possibly of slugging the compressor with non compressible oil.

          Harry,

I just spoke to Long time A/C Guy with regards to rebuilding my set up from scratch , and he told me to add 2 oz's. to the Evap side of my drier to start it back up.

          Hope this helps .
