Too bad Dodge is out of racing. They were strong with Penske. Good point about Ford, NASCAR would demand push rod only engines.

I have now learned from owner number 4 that the original engine was rebuilt, and once rented to Rinzler Racing for the (C3) Holiday Inn Corvette to use at Lime Rock. The engine was supposed to be returned to owner number 3 after that race. Still need to determine if that actually did happen...

This relates to my mention of the engine in 1965 racer number 116538 - See above for the prior post. THANKS!

Bill, still thinking along this same path, picture a substitute GM worker doing this brake line job for a short time (couple days, or so) and having his preferred method of holding the brake line with tape and didn't remove it when done on all chassis......... I could see it just staying there because it didn't bother anything further on down the line.

Gene , I agree with you , It looks like it would be to hold the brake line or the E brake cable and its the same black paper tape that is used on the inside of the doors . BUT why is there only three cars so far that have it and all three are 396s and all three were race cars ?? I dont know . I am going to put new tape on my frame and maybe someday it will come out . PS it was not the same tape as used on the body mounts .Bill
