    Ok, but I understood that there is no seal...
    There isn't Rob. This thread has somehow morphed into a discussion regarding the nut on the carb float bowl, which DOES have a metal gasket. Your original post was in regards to the fuel line leaking at the filter which DOESN'T have a gasket.

    All you need to do is tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen, etc... the line at the filter until it no longer leaks. Use TWO wrenches. One on the fuel line and one on the filter. And be careful. The filter can easily twist and these things AREN'T cheap!

      Sorry Rob, conversation had moved to talking about the nut at the carb where there is a gasket.

      My method on dealing with new lines with inverted flare seals is to tighten enough so that you can just still twist the filter on the line. Twist it back and forth several times then tighten completely. This "laps" the seating surfaces together.

          Many Q-jets have the gasket at the bottom of the threads. I don't know what years or models they were on, but look like this.
