    Glue for jacking instructions? (1957)

I need to glue the jacking instructions to my trunk board. I can't find any info on the glue specified in the AIM. Is it best to use rubber cement? White glue? Any advice appreciated!

I have always used the brushable yellow weathestrip glue. Al Knoch sells it in quart cans. Be sure that there is evidence of glue beyond the label borders ( an inch or so).

Thanks, Ed. I happen to have some of that already, so I should be all set. I appreciate your help.

        Tim -

Remember the amber-colored "mucilage" glue your kids used in kindergarten and elementary school that came in a bottle with a rubber applicator top with a slit in it? The plant used a brush-applied water-diluted version of that for stickers before they came with their own adhesive and peel-off backing paper.

I tried but never found mucilage to glue the labels on a 60 spare tire cover board.

I went ahead and used the weather-strip adhesive, and it seems to have worked well. Thanks, to all who replied!

Was the mucilage glue used into the C2 era? I have an NOS replacement glove box door that came with the tire pressure label in the original GM box. It was loose, not attached to the inside of the door.

Was the mucilage glue used to attach this label as well as the labels on the jack storage cover in the C2s?

Contrary to apparently popular belief, the "glue gunners" were not equipped with micrometers or even special instructions. It was
more like "Make sure that's glued somewhere to the board and right side up so the idiot can read it.".

My guess is they probably used rollers with a calibrated widths within +/-1.000000" larger than the size of the label to apply the glue.

No, it wasn't. The tire pressure label had a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a peel-off liner on the back.
