    John Greenwood (1944-2015)

I think John did more to promote Corvettes in the seventies than GM, and he saved Sebring.

I recall seeing one of his "batmobile" Corvettes at Riverside back in the day. What a beast! The IMSA race was on the "long course" (3.3 miles) that included an effective 6000 foot long straight. I think he was a DNF, but was fastest through the "dogleg" at the end of the back straight, consistently over 200 MPH.

Famed Corvette racer John Greenwood has passed away at the age of 71.

John Greenwood was truly one of the good guys carrying the GM flag and promoting the Corvette. I met him at the NCCC meeting in Orlando, Fl back in the 70's. A very personable fellow. Rest In Pease John!

I fell in love with C3 Corvettes as an adolescent in part because of the Greenwood cars. I'm sad to hear about his passing.

RIP John. It seems like only yesterday he moved to FL. We never could beat him or his cars but spent all our money trying! Great competitor. Steve

I remember being at Road America in 1976 or so and Mancuso Chevrolet supplying Greenwood bodied Corvettes for the Corvette Corral. I couldn't afford a fender much less the entire car. I think they were about $15,000 new with the body modifications on a stock Corvette.
