    C4 center console restoration

I have a 94 and the center counsel is scratched and gummy. There is a paint or film over black plastic I guess to give a texture to to the plastic. It is coming off with soap and water and rubbing like sunburn skin. Not sure what I should spray back on or if I should just find a good used one or replacement. Any ideas?

I can't believe I located this old paper... haven't seen it in 15-years. The bookmark I had saved no longer worked, but the 'WayBack Machine' had a copy... it is absolutely amazing what is stored there.

The C4 Interior Plastic restoration article was penned by Lars Grimsrud... I copied the page, reformatted it, and converted to a PDF for you:

No problem, Jim... I hope the article is useful, but part numbers may have changed or been discontinued.

Take care to protect the service parts identification label affixed to the underside of the center console door. (VIN, option codes, paint code, etc)

Jack is it an auto or manual? You can still find manual NOS. Automatic NOS are impossible to find. Reproductions do not match typical finish.

Ed is correct. We have a friend who bought 2 replacements and neither matches. He had his judged at a chapter meet and the orginal vs. replacement . The original would have scored better. Only condition points.
