    73 Seatbelt Function/Restoration Questions

Starting my next restoration adventure on my 73. A previous owner replaced the belts years ago. The replacements are in very good shape, however they have no wiring and of course they have no date label or correct webbing. Lap belts only in Oxblood. I removed my seats to see what was underneath as far as wiring goes. The drivers side had the wire harness tucked under the carpet, and under the passenger seat I found the harness with the weight assembly intact under the carpet. I did reinstall the weight contact bar under the passenger seat as shown in the AIM. Now, my questions are: When I get (FIND $$$) the correct belts, all I'll need to do is install the retractor side, the buckle side and plug the wire harness attached to buckle side into the wire harness under my seats and then HOPE everything works as it should, right? By everything I mean the buzzer and dash light. Is there any more wiring under the plastic covers over the retractable assembly? I didn't remove it, and I didn't notice anything in the AIM. Right now all my my door buzzers, ignition buzzer, alarm, headlight warning light and ebrake light are functioning correctly.

I would remove the covers and see if the old retractable unit is still their as they may have some good parts.
