Re: Denver 2015 Judging Floor
Hi,
The 70 ZR-1 is quite a car!!!!
The interior of the car is a remarkable example of a 1970 black Custom Interior.
The owner said that he occasionally drives the car to pick up one of his children from school!!!
He was a pleasure to talk to about the car.

Alan and Don,
Thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us.
I agree with you Alan, the 70 ZR1 is a beautiful car. I especially like the patina of the paint. That makes it even more special in my opinion. I assume from the pictures it is Laguna Gray.Jimmy

Re: Denver 2015 Judging Floor
I have to share this picture of Gerry Fuccillo and his lovely wife, this morning packing up their long-time owned, very original '67 roadster for the trip back to Sonora, California. After doing the long road tour, and staying through the long convention, they were ready to get home, and what a way to travel! You do have to pack wisely for a long trip for two in a C2 roadster. They are my heroes of the Nationals.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Denver 2015 Judging Floor
Michael and Ara,
Thanks for the compliments. Marci and I finally got home Monday night (7/27/15) after two nights in Las Vegas, and about 2800 miles in my 67/327/300/3.08, back and for between Sonora, CA and Denver.
We had a few problems on the way home. Between Denver and Salina, UT we were cruising at 70-80mph with no problem. After a night in desolate Salina, the 67 started shimmying so bad I could not do over 50 mph, and the shimmy caused the driver side hardtop latch to break. I had too fix the latch with a luggage belt around the steering column. It was apparent that I had a problem with my 10 year old Coker redlines or something up front was out of alignment.
We turned off in little Beaver, UT and lucked out to find a Chevron Station with a Cooper Tire shop next door on a Saturday morning.
The determination was that the two front tires and one rear were delaminated. So we went to brunch for a half hour while the shop changed the 4- P205 R 15's. We were back on the road within an hour and the shop gave me some wire to fix the hardtop latch.
We then spent two days in Vegas visiting Marci's brother.
The problems were not over in the last 500 mile stretch from Vegas to Sonora. The f'n 67 signal switch lever screw came loose and I had to use hand signals for the last 200 or so miles cruising in 100 degree weather. But we made it home.
Here's how to pack a 67 hardtop convertible:

Just like I did on my New York to California move in 1969, but with a little classier luggage.
Here's the temporary fix of the hardtop latch:

I just couldn't believe how cool the untouched 327/300 ran after I timed it to a total WOT advance of 36 d (w/o vacuum advance) and 52d with vacuum advance. I ranged 190 degree to 200 degrees(on a hill) in 100 degree weather with the Vintage Air System blasting, and cruising at 70-80 mph

Re: Denver 2015 Judging Floor
Jerry,
happy you and Marci and the 67 made it home in one piece when your tires failed on you. Sorry about the hardtop latch, but I have to say a broken turn signal level does not sound like a serious problem, especially once you made it into CAL. We all know that you are not allowed to use turn signals in CAL anyway.- Top
