    63 radiator petcock question

I have a petcock that has aluminum threads on the part that screws into the radiator and metal on the winged ends, is the correct petcock suppose to be all aluminum? during my last judging this was brought to my attention, that its should be all aluminum and not magnetic.

    Ed,

If 63 is like later years then from the factory they had an aluminum plug that was screwed into the hole, very similar to the drain plugs in the side of the block. In service this was then usually changed to the petcock. So, in theory any petcock would not be correct.

If you need an all-aluminum one, Paragon reproduces it.

      Ed,

The judges are correct in that a 63 should have an all aluminum petcock. They were supplied with the radiator from Harrison. Even the replacement radiators were supplied with an aluminum petcock.

Agree with joe. C2 petcocks were utilized, not a plug. Mike

There you go. Aluminum petcock in 63, but your 72 would have been a plug.

I saw one not long ago on a C3. As you might expect they're not common this many years later.

Ed, I just ordered one from them. It was $10 and that included shipping. I had it in a few days. Order two and have a backup.
