C-1 Convertible Top Warning Label

I ordered a new top from Al Knoch and upon inspecting it, I noticed that the warning label language differed from that on page 33 of the Judging Guide. So I called them and after a short amount of research, they said that a worker sewed in the wrong label which was for a 63-67. They would have it returned - no problem. Afterwards, I was looking at Tom Howey's and Bob Baird's restoration guide and they show a label on page 263 for an original 1960 top that is worded the same as the supposedly incorrect Al Knoch label. So, is the JG wrong?

Interesting question, my label which is on an Al Knock's top from the early 90's matches the 4th ed JG. So, unless something has changed since it was written in 2001 (like the guide was updated) I don't know why they would change the label .....I'll leave it to one of the guys experienced in judging to comment on that.

Any comments from others on the forum? I just received my third top from Al Knoch and the label is the same as the first one they sent me.

Here's a photo of my C1's convertible top tag which I purchased from Al Knoch in the late '90's....I have no idea about any changes made at Knoch's since then. Call Marilyn Heitzman (419-862-3348) to see if she is planning any changes to edition #5 of the 58-60 JG.....whenever it comes out. She is responsible for creating the new version.....at least she used to be.

Bob Baird' has a lot experience with 1960 Corvettes and I know personally that he has extensive photographs of several 1960 Bowtie cars. The photograph on page 263 should be an accurate depiction of an original tag. I believe the JG label information is missing the line AND TOP MATERIAL. If in fact the JG is missing the line of text, it will be addressed before the new version is issued.

Here's what I just got from Tim Mickey C1 Team Leader:
