C2 - Need some torque specs on front suspensionn on my 66

I need torque specs for the large bolt and the two small bolts that hold the dust shield, caliper bracket and steering knuckle arm to the spindle.

Looks like this all came as an assembly and is not show separate in the AIM that I could find. I also looked in the Service Manual and Overhaul Manual and could not find specific torque specs for these three bolts.

    Thanks,
    Don Harris

For my 1967 car (should be same as your 66) I torqued the large bolt to 100 ft-lbs and the two smaller bolts to 60 ft-lbs.

I used 60 ft-lbs for the front and rear brake calipers to their brackets. The 1967 Chevrolet Service Manual showed over twice this amount of torque (130 ft-lbs). Way too much..........

I did this work years ago, and it hasn't come apart yet. I wrote down these torque values I provided since I also had a hard time finding the correct numbers. FWIW.

GM specifies the disc brake anchor bolt (the large bolt that threads into the spindle at the top) is 120 lb/ft. This is a large bolt (11/16"-16) and this is also about the "standard" torque for a bolt of this size.

GM never published a specification for the other 2 bolts. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that these bolts thread into self-locking nuts. These bolts are 7/16"-20. The "standard" torque for such a bolt is about 60 lb/ft. However, when the bolts fasten into self-locking nuts, I don't know what the torque should actually be.

Thank you very much. I assume the torque was high for the large top bolt.
