    C1 Seat Lumbar Support

    As those of you who drive your cars on hot days know, the back of your shirt tends to get wet from your back sweating. When we go on 6-7 hundred mile trips this can be very annoying, just wondering what other people do to eliminate this problem. What kind of back cushion or beaded support works best? Thanks for any and all info.

    Terry, When my wife and I drove to Nationals in Lake Placid, NY in the '59 from NH in July 1997, we simply used towels doubled up and draped them over the seatbacks. It helped a lot.

    Our GMC Acadia has "Cooled Seats". Those are so nice here in Florida this time of year. I still don't understand how they work. Not sure if it's just a 3 speed fan from the main AC ductwork or a actual cooling refrigerant system in the seats.

    I wish I could put them in the '59. I haven't driven it in over a month due to the sauna we have down here lately.

      Terry,

      Have used the old fashion cool seat cushion exactly like from back in the day before cars had a/c and they worked better than setting on a hot seat. Put a towel between the cushion and the seat to protect the seat covers. Think I bought them at O'Reilly's.

      IIRC there are some made with built in fans operated from the lighter.

      You could always opt for a cool box available from race car shops.

        Gary;

        Good thing you mentioned the towel. It's very important. I had the "cool seat" cushion with the spirit like springs inside. Well, who would have thought one little spring end could work it's way out and puncture my vinyl seat. Well, it did back in the early 60's and I tried every possible way to patch it up until a few years ago when I gave up and changed both the covers and seat foams.

        ps. I too live in Florida, but only drive for an hour or so on Sunday mornings before the sun and the idiots take over.
