    Inspection Cover EL Headmark

After degreasing my Inspection Cover and Bell Housing on my '73 I found one missing lower inspection cover bolt, the three existing bolts have an "EL" Headmark.

Trying to find a source to install the missing bolt, no aftermarket source sells an EL Headmark Bolt.

They are selling either, a bolt with no headmark or an "E" Headmark.

Searched info in TDB, and also nothing written in the '73-'74 or even '70-72 JG.

Will look for an original piece.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Gregory,
You might want to contact Richard Fortier.
He has amassed quite an assortment of original fasteners and could well have what you're looking for.
    He advertises in the Driveline.

This is an easy bolt to find. Millions of these were used for the bellhousing cover, timing cover, and oil pan on Chevrolet engines of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Many of these have the "EL" headmarking---very common. Actually, both the "E" and "EL" headmarkings denoted the same manufacturer----ELCO Industries of Rockford, IL.

Anybody know what size those bolts are? Is there a source that tells you all the bolt sizes?

1/4-20 X 3/8". They have an untrimmed ("indented") head, captured external tooth star washer, and zinc plated. The same bolts were used for oil pan, timing cover, and inspection cover applications.
