Does this side glass look right?

Re: Does this side glass look right?
Bought the glass for my 58 from Auto City Classics. Besides the fact that the first one was crushed in shipping (which they took care of right away - good cust service) I found that the glass was a bit thinner then the original. Was told that the glass thickness is now metric, made in Mexico and thinner. As for the radius and profile, it was not "exact" but very close, not anything like what you show.
You should probably send these pictures to Pilkington and see what they have to say..........

Re: Does this side glass look right?
Those odd profiles in your sideglass pictures are clearly wrong IMO. They may be doing that profile now thinking there's adequate area when the sealing tape and frame covers it. I wouldn't even attempt to use it. IIRC, Terry D. had similar issues with his '62 sideglass as well. He may see this.
I recently replaced sideglass on a '59 acquired from Auto City. Profile was very close to original, except the top front corners. The glass was thinner, and due to that I had to double up on the thickness of the sealing tape. This took extra effort. Tinted glass this time to match the tinted windshield on this car.
However, first shipment had a problem.....One piece was chipped from poor packaging at the top front corner. It was wrapped in bubble wrap, but right against the inside of the box. They replaced it immediately. Always open the box right away and unwrap and check. I opened the box and it wasn't shattered so I thought I was good. I found out a few days later when I removed the bubblewrap. Frustrating.

When I first installed the glass using my typical sealing tape, which hasn't changed, the glass was loose after the sash was installed. I had to take it apart and double wrap the tape, which now made it harder to install. Lots of soapy water around the perimeter helped.

The windshields are now thinner from Auto City also. This requires additional thinking when installing the glass. I use "more than normal" urethane sealer on those now as they have a more prevalent tendency to pull out from the frame when a soft top or hard top is latched. THe rubber doesn't "bite" the glass like it did on the thicker glass.

Re: Does this side glass look right?
The following is what Pilkington had to say. I see no reason for the radius cuts and believe that they would be detectable during judging so I will return them and reorder from Auto City Glass.
