Thanks For Your Help Forum Members

I recently posted that because of a health issue I was being forced to sell my cars (1965 Corvette & 1957 Chevrolet Nomad) as I could no longer drive nor maintain them. I asked if another forum member(s) had experienced a similar situation and would be willing to share that with me. I received a lot of good advice on what to do and what not to do and I want to thank those of you for your helpful suggestions.
One forum member, who knows everybody and who everybody knows, provided not only what I would call "wise counsel" but went way beyond that in putting me in contact with serious collectors who would appreciate and provide a good home for my vehicles.Because of his contacts, both cars are going to good homes along with my special thanks to that forum member!

    Chuck,

I'm glad it all worked out for you but I'm sorry you were forced to sell in the first place. Good luck and good health to you in the future.

    Jim

      Hi Chuck,
      Thank you for the up-date.
I looked at your profile and see that you were the original owner of your 65. That's quite remarkable!
I'm sure that made it especially difficult to see it go but I'm glad you feel it's going to someone who will give it a good home. I hope that's some conciliation for you.
      I wish you well!
      Regards,
      Alan

Interesting subject. I'm 76 and have health issues that will put me in a similar situation in the not too distant future. I am the original owner of a 63 convertible and it has been kept all these years because of its great intrinsic value to me and my wife. It already is in my son's name and he is a Corvette enthusiast, but he buys and sells classic cars as a side line and has developed a more sinic attitude about each car he has had. To him now they only represent a means to enhance his annual " bottom line". I am still able to take my Sunday morning drives (my defibrillator) and an occasional Corvette show nearby. I work on it only to keep it in fine tune. I don't really enjoy that part like I used to, but my son thinks I like to "tinker" with cars so he continues to find work for me to do on his cars. His 69 L-89 now runs like a top in part due to my sweat over it's tri-power Holleys which I hate, but couldn't say no to his request for help with them. I'd much sooner spend that time fine tuning one of my AFB's, or on my recently rebuilt distributor. When the weather cools down in a couple months, I'm going to change my spark plugs "one last time". I love that car. It's been part of my life for so long starting while I was in the Army and during my six plus years in Asia. I always had to consider it in my plans and my dreams.

Don't know what to say. have mid years for 40 years. Getting old took the motor out of the 67 in November and dragging my but to put it back in. I have a 2015 it is the best car I have ever owned 7000 miles on it now.Think I will get rid of the 2 and buy a tanker. that will complete my list.

I'm a whipper snapper at 64 I guess. I have a '61 and a split window..... I'll prob try to get 'ahead of the curve' and let one of 'em go in a couple of years. I think the market will soften and ya never know what the future holds. I just found out an old girlfriend died this past March at 65...kinda makes ya think. Wife likes the '61 convertible but that's cuz she rides and doesn't have to drive it original trim. Its a handful. The '63 is rock solid with A/C so that gets my vote. We'll fight it out later on I guess.

Sorry that ANYbody has to sell their cars - but you gotta do what you gotta do..
