    Wheel acceptability

In short, depending on TIRE SIZE, will an Amerian mag wheel- 7 x 15, work on the rears of a 1964 Coupe without damaging the fender's inside glass lip? The fronts would have 6 x 15 wheels. Thank you , Jack J.

    Jack,
Width should not be a problem. Offset is where you could run into an issue.

Leif, just what might work for the rears if I go with a radial down the road?

        Jack,

I just installed a set of Diamond Back Michelin Defender redlines on the '67...size 215/70R15. Look and perform flawlessly.

I have American Mag 15X7s all around with 205X70R15 DB redline radials on my '64, no issues at all.

Just a note, too good of a deal to pass up. Mags and tires offered to me for $100.00 and since, just by coincidence, I had that amount with me I jumped on it. Right place, right time.

              Jack,
Be sure to check the DOT numbers on those tires.

Another footnote: the tires on the front 6x15's are P255/60 SR 15 and the tires on the rear 7x15's are P 215/70 R 15. All 4 tires are BF Goodrich. Again, primarily for the American mags. They came off a C1 car, year ??

                  Jack -

You do NOT want those fat 255/60's on the front and much narrower 215/70's on the rear - aside from looking really weird, you'll have handling problems. Also, the front tires are WAY mis-matched to the 15 x 6 wheels; 255/60 tires are designed for 7"-9" rims per B.F. Goodrich, and will look "pinched" and will have "crowned" tread surface on 6" rims.

ATTENTION-SENIOR MOMENT-JOHN H.- Front tires are 215/70 R 15's!! I really wanted the American mags for the price, the tires just happened to come along with the deal.
