    68 seat door ajar lens

Took apart the gauge bezel on my 68 today and found something interesting. Under the blocked out portion of the bezel where the headlamp warning indicator would be, the lens has "LOW FUEL" on it. What do you guys make of this?, from a later year?
On the same subject, does anyone know approx. when they added the headlamp warning light?IMG_2055.JPG

    Hi Douglas,
The 68-69 TIM&JG indicates that up to about sn 12,800 the warning lights in the upper right side of the bezel were "door ajar", and below it "low fuel" OR blank.
So I guess it's possible that a bezel with a "blank" could have had a lens with "low fuel" as you found.
Is the sn of your car in that time period?
    Regards,

1968 models had several variations in the warning messages. As Alan stated, the JG lists approximate VINs where these changed.
The headlamp warning did not appear until 1969. Do you have the latest 1968-69 TIM&JG?

Douglas is the surface of your 1968 gauge bezel smooth?

Thanks for the replies everyone. My cars VIN is right around 9000 so makes sense, was the low fuel warning light functional on the cars equipped? Reba, yes, I do have the TIM&JG, I just need to remember to read it before starting threads! Jim, yes, my bezel is smooth(and broken in the typical place).

I have never heard of a low fuel warning light that was functional. We are still waiting.

A low fuel warning light would have obviously required some allied specific components for the fuel level measuring system (e.g. fuel gauge, in-tank meter, relays, etc.) I know of no such components for the 1968 system. So, I would say it's not possible for such a system to have been functional for 1968.

MY 1970 does not have a low fuel light.
