    1957 Intake manifold Gasket Numbers?

What size GM letters on the tab of the rubber end gasket of the intake manifold is correct? We have 2 different sizes.

    Salvador,

The gasket set part number in the 12/77 parts lists the intake gasket set P/N 3931600 but lists no seperate end gaskets. They are included in that set and the set was prpbably not the original part number. The original has probably been superceded several times. Sorry.

Find an NOS gasket set of GM #3734115 and you'll know.

Salvator, Tough question and one I have wondered about for a long time. You see two different font used on the end rubbers. Small print and large print.
On the other hand maybe I shouldn't be on this post as you are talking about the smaller port size '57 gaskets. I have seen the two different size font on the 63 style, etc gaskets. Not knowing which was correct I picked the larger font(for my '63) as stood out more.
One might guess the several companies made the same part hence the different size font but who knows. John

Several manufacturers DID make these gasket sets and I think that's the reason for the difference in the font size. It might also be that there were multiple sets of molds at even a single manufacturer and the font size was different on different molds. I really don't see how anyone could say that a feature like this was ubiquitous for a particular model year.

Joe You are correct. The seal was used on many applications.

My 1957 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Mar. 1957) lists GM # 3734115 in Gr. 3.270 as the intake manifold gasket set part number for 57 ALL, CORV. (8 cyl.) (exc. Ser. 6).
