    Tri-Power Tee fittings

Weatherhead was the major supplier of fittings to GM back in the day, the Weatherhead name and/or logo appearing on the fittings frequently.

This included the two brass Tee fittings on Tri Power carbs, the logo a series roll etched vertically in the relief in the center of the fitting, the logo being the familiar large W enclosed within a hexagon. These all had the deep angled relief. See pair at top of attached pic.

When Weatherhead was bought from Data Corp by Eaton in Nov/02 the roll etched series was changed to Eaton, still with the deep relief. (3rd pic from top)

Subsequently, perhaps in 2007, Eaton discontinued manufacturing this fitting with the deep relief. For a time it seems there was a much shallower relief used (bottom pic).

From all I can see presently the usual aftermarket Corvette sources only have fittings with no relief at all. Further, the supply of NOS Weatherheads in the broader marketplace appear to have pretty much dried up.

Thus the only correct Tri Power fittings are those with the deep relief and Weatherhead roll etched logo.

Hi Lance -- not familiar with the post-Weatherhead era, but here's the tee off of a late '69 L68 set-up I have.

Here a couple I have from circa 1974.

Thanks, Kurt. Those appear to have the shallow relief so maybe the shallow relief version was being produced earlier than previously thought.

Also, for anybody interested in a restoration to the standard of the way a car left St. Louis, brass fittings were shiny when new, almost a polished look, simply the result of manufacturing fresh brass, the oxidation process then gradually dulling the finish over time. Just like it does to us as we get older...and older...and older.

Thanks, Wayne. Your pic - and probably camera - much better than mine.

Here's a few of my favourite Weatherhead markings. Note the symbols on the brass hex fittings in the middle pic (driver side 36 gal sump). The ones on the fuel filter 90 degree elbow (chromed brass), is a little hard to see.
