Re: Missing Page 66 AIM A/C C60
A very difficult topic to describe. AFAIK there is no sheet in the '64-6 AIM's that show the left kick-pad vent cable installed on a car with C60. Going through the GM parts books, it appears (by default) that the cable being discussed is part # 3874732, with description "air vent control (41_3/4" O.L.).
This compares with the non-air LH kick pad cable #3874729, which is described as "left (vent control) (22_1/8" O.L.)".
The extra length on the C60 LH vent cable [knob just to the right of the steering column, where the RH vent cable would be located on a non-air car] allows it to swoop upward, over the steering column and clutch bracket/rod, touches the insulation on the firewall, turns back toward the light switch then curves down and forward towards the final destination at the kick pad vent grille.- Top

Re: Missing Page 66 AIM A/C C60
Neil -- No; the closest those 2 cables come to each other is about 5 inches. I'd take pictures but it's too congested under there.
P.S. I edited my post to revise/include some more description.- Top

Re: Missing Page 66 AIM A/C C60
Well that'll teach me not to remove page(s) from my copy of the AIM then forget to put back. Cable under discussion shows on 1965 AIM, UPC C60, Sheet E7. And it shows the clip holding the LH kick panel cable AND the hood release cable. Well, I got the part # right anyway
, so the length mentioned is correct.
I still don't see how (after the clip) there is enough room or flexibility to pull a 90 degree turn then a 180 to connect with the vent door.
Somebody else with a '66 air car should report so as to get more examples.- Top

Re: Missing Page 66 AIM A/C C60
Routed as you said Up and over Steering and Clutch Bracket towards firewall before returning to Drivers Side and curved down to Attatch to Vent Grill... No way any Hood Release to Vent Cable Clip is going as as stated as they are never that close.. You wouldnt think with that many bends its operate but its SMOOTH and a big Thanks to my fellow Posters- Top

If you need a "working copy" of a page of the AIM, remove the page, make a copy, and return the page to the AIM immediately. Use the "working copy" in the garage or shop.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
