    65 Fuel Convertibles

Can anybody share knowledge on how many convertibles vs coupes were built with FI in 1965?
    Thanks for your help.

    Jaime,
Jim Gessner's survey is the best place to start. Even though there were more convertibles then coupes overall, I believe the survey shows those percentages reversed in favor of the coupes. As a side note I drove my fuelie coupe last night (2 weeks after back surgery) and it was a little tough on the back. My son was with me and I had him drive home. He complained the WHOLE way home about how hard the car was to drive. I told him very simply that these cars a "a mans car" and not for wimps. He didn't like that at all. I love my son dearly but stand by that statement. Are you looking to join the fuelie club?

      Jamie,
A good question. Original GM production numbers for 1965 does not break out coupe vs convert. for the various engine options . A footnote on the page listing type engines built for the 65 Corvette states: "Units are grouped, application cannot be determined due to RPO set up" Perhaps someone has figured it out but the lack of response to your question leads me to think no one knows the actual breakdown.

I think that absent of any Chevrolet production numbers that Jim Gessner's 1965 fuel injection survey would be the best. Not to steal Jim's thunder but as of July 2015 he shows 192 convertibles and 218 coupes for a total of 410 cars. That's 53% which is a pretty good sampling given that only 771 cars were produced. I hope Jim chimes in as he may have more to add.

Not to derail this thread but would someone who has access to Jim's survey please forward me a link or instructions on how I can get back on this site? I've owned a '65 L84 for some time now. It's listed in Jim's survey. a computer crash a couple of years ago wiped out everything I had stored. I've contacted Jim several times and he has responded but I still can't access the site. anyone able to help? Thanks Blake

there is no website for Jim's L84 Registry. It is just a spreadsheet that he maintains. If you are an owner, he will send you the spreadsheet.
Anyone with information re. 65 L84s is encouraged to contact Jim by email.
