    Carpet Fastener Question

I have my carpet kit installed in my 1971 coupe, but looking at the assy manual it shows the push in carpet fasteners, the 3 on the rear wall I have, but the ones in the front footwell are confusing, I have some fasteners in the front insulator that runs behind the dash and heater unit, but am having trouble how the carpet fit with the push fasteners, it looks like 2 on the drivers side, and 3 on the passenger side, I wonder if mine never had all of them, thanks again Ron

    Ron
There should be three on each side in the front.

I had very good luck using a 4 or 5 inch long bolt that fit into the opening of the fastener. I used a nut and a washer to stop the bolt from pushing through the end of the rubber. Adjusted it so that the bolt was all the way to the end but not pushing through. Soaped it up and gave it a good firm push and it went straight in.

I just tried to remove my original (or at least very old) carpet fasteners. Each one broke. They were very hard and brittle, so probably not a surprise.
