70 driver's side wheel well extra holes?

    Please see the picture below.

Do the three (3) extra holes look correct?

    Thanks,

Bill. a lot of times a alarm system was the cause of extra holes in a place like the wheel well. My 63 had a alarm and there was holes drilled in the wheel well, and the hood surround for a pin switch. Generally there where no extra holes that I can think of in the wheel well.

I'm commenting without having seen the picture. On my 71, there are three holes below the lower vacuum tank mounting holes. They are for the carbon canister mounting bracket. Does (or did) your 70 have a carbon canister as part of the emissions system? These holes look to be approx 3/8 diameter. Chip.

          Hi,
I'm thinking that a 70 would have had the canister for the ECS only if it was delivered first to California? I believe all cars had the system for the 71 model year.
          Regards,

The canister was part of the NA9 emissions option in 1970. That option was required for California delivered Corvettes, but was available on any 1970 Corvette. I have seen more of them on non-California delivered 1970 Corvettes than California delivered, but I expect that is because I reside far from California.

                  Hi Terry,
                  Thanks.
I didn't realize NA9 was available for all 70 model year cars.

Which part of the inner fender is this? Is the camera about where the LF tire is located, and pointing towards the RR of the car while looking up a bit towards the surround?

I also had the issue of not being able to access NCRS.org at home. It turned out that my wireless router was blocking that particular website for some unknown reason. No problems after resetting it.

Yes that is where the picture was taken from.

Thank you for the tip regarding the router. I will try restating it later.

No unused holes on my inner fender, BUT I repaired it 15 year ago and it's possible I filled them (that's something I would likely do back then).

Your holes are near where at least one wire harness clip is fastened. Could one hole be for that?

If I was to take an educated guess ---

That would be where the mount plate was riveted in for the expansion tank on 454 AC cars. The non AC cars had the aluminum take on the side and the AC cars had the brass tank strapped/mounted under the top surround, in front of the AC evaporator case/blower motor.

those holes are in the correct spot for this.
