looking forward to the 2016 road tour. That is the last requirement I need to complete for the Founders Award. Even better my chapter is putting on the 2016 National.

Rodney, The Founder's Award is a great accomplishment. Remember you need to travel 500 miles on one of the Tours. In 2003, my wife Kay drove from Toronto to Indianapolis and drive to Hershey, PA for her 500 miles.

When the route is determined and the National gets closer I will meet the caravan some where so I have 500 miles.

Rodney, any one of the tours will work, I think you just need to join them 500 miles out, so that will make a 1000 mile trip for you.

Wouldn't meeting up with the Road Tour 250 miles out work?

I don't think so, I think a team leader needs to answer that one! As far as I know you have to be with the tour for 500 miles.

              That's why I'm not doing a founders in 2016.

I'd love to try that Founders some day, but it sounds hard.

It can be hard in some ways. The car has to pass Founder's Operations, but that is not too hard. Mostly we want to see that the things you would need for the trip work = lights, mechanical stuff, gauges and radio (ISE). As an example any radio will do and a 99 cent stick on digital lock will work if your OEM clock has reached the end of time.

You have to drive the car with a road tour 500 miles one way. You can haul it back in/on a trailer if you want. Anyone attempting a Founders Award is advised to communicate with their Team Leader to be sure you have the required distance when you meet the Road Tour of your choice.

I chose the National in Collinsville (St Louis) to do it with my 1970 LT1. It was 103*F on that trip with no AC. Never again.

You do well with your postings on here Mike. You have more talent than you give yourself credit for. The article doesn't have to be published; just submitted for publication.

                          Mike,
Collecting judging points just requires one to go to enough meets or judging schools. Maybe you can borrow a few points from George Williams, or maybe Dave Brigham will let me loan you a few.

Level 1 is 10 points. I think you have well over that already, no?
