    S/B bell housing Seal

I was trying to find out about how far in the tunnel does the rubber seal that fits over the bellhousing need to be. I belive it gets glued to the bell housing and then the body comes down over it. 69 coupe SB

Roger I would say about 6 inches from the top of bell housing. It was not a exact science when they did it. Just do a trail fit I believe the tunnel at one point will come close to the bell housing thats where you'll want it. It was installed to keep the heat from traveling down the tunnel.

      Roger,
I think it gets glued to the tunnel.

        Hi Roger,
Perhaps you might use these pics as a guide.
The first a 4-speed (70-71?) and the second an automatic (69).
They look like they'll both end up in about the same place in the transmission tunnel.
        Regards,
        Alan

75 AIM says 2.5 inches from face of bellhousing. Don't know about earlier years.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Alan the picture gave me a good visual of what I needed to do. Good to know it may not have been an exact science.
            Thanks to all!
