    1967 Powerglide transmission

I am doing a frame off on a '67 with a Powerglide. Is there any way to tell if it is orginal to the car. I read the judging manual but it did not reference anything. The block stamp says Powerglide. Just wondering if the car serial # should be present and where.

The orginal pan has been changed to one that has a drain plug.

Original pans do have drain plugs.

According to the new judging manual, it says the pans have no drain plug, according my 1966 service manual, it says to drain the fluid, remove plug, so which is correct? If the error is in the judging guide then it should be changed. Would like to hear from Powerglide owners, plug or no plug.

I just checked my latest 1966 judging manual and it says pans should have a hex head plug. Looks like the new 1967 judging manual is incorrect, if so how do we get it changed?

The new 67 manual that is coming out has the powerglide section revised to correct the pan error. They did indeed have a drain plug

Thanks to Keith as well as other 67 M35 owners, including verification using GM documentation in the 1967 Chassis Service Manual, we recognize the error. A correction has been made noting the presence of a drain plug in the 1967 CTIM&JG 6th edition.

Well should this not be added to the Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide Errata Sheets on the discussion board?

Perhaps , however if you notice the thread you mention is locked.

Didn't noticed it was locked, I just know it is there and it is suppose to be a tool for changes in the judging guides and to keep us current with the changes as they as come about.

here is what your pan should look like

the drain plug is a 7/8 hex head just like your oil pan

Let us not get too carried away with "A correction has been made noting the presence of a drain plug".

A correction has been made noting the observed presence of a drain plug on some believed original pans is simply stated and nothing more.

No inference is made regarding factory stampings or configuration, nor should any further conclusions be drawn beyond that initial statement.
