Not only is there blackout like everyone has seen on C2 frames and suspensions. The exhaust manifolds appear to have been totally painted orange. I've always felt these are production cars that had blackout paint in various degrees of coverage and should be judged that way. I'm sure other members are wondering why the 63-64 judging manual states, no blackout on the frame and suspicion. These photos pretty much change that notion.

The pictures of the fiberglass work, grinding and painting with no eye protection or masks at all are still jarring. Wonder how many injuries and lung issues resulted?

I have a CD of 1963 assembly & pilot photos, some of a big tank some of std tank.
I do not remember from whom I got it or if I can legally share on the web here. There is no name or other ID info on the CD just the dates the pix were copied to disc, Feb 2, 2004.

Any true legal eagles out there to help and let me know if I can post theme here or on the web?

You got it from me, and I believe I got them from Jerry Bramlett. I went and found the CD I received from him once this thread started.
I do wish that they were scanned to higher resolution.

I figured, er hoped anyways, that the person that gave them to me might see this.

Yah. Do as you wish with them from my perspective, as they're already out on the site linked above. At one point I had them posted on the 'net as well, but that hosting site went away. I sent copies to several VHs back in the day.

                  Re: 1963 Pilot Build Photos

Wayne, my experience at GM was that pilot builds are not necessarily representative of what occurs in production. Pilot is where they learn what to do, how to do it, or whether it can be done at all. While I suspect, and the evidence would seem to verify that the blackout was everywhere, bean counters and lax operators being what they are, its very possible that not so much blackout got applied in real production. Remember, most of the changes from 63 were cost-reduction oriented and blackout was probably not cheap. Add lazy operators to that and its more than possible that the blackout level was reduced. I doubt it, but its possible...
