Is the area that is ground down like the picture I posted above?

How do you 'old salts' post pictures?
I hope you and your family are well!

You hit this icon when you have a "reply to thread" open.

It will bring you to another dialog box where you then have to click on (basic uploader)
Then Browse (to pick the file)
Then Upload to get the picture from your computer to the NCRS site.

Installing 2.02 valves work fine but makes less power than the same head with the 1.94 valves installed. (Unless the chambers are also machined)
They 2.02's are shrouded because of the proximity of the valve edge to the combustion chamber wall. Flow testing the heads with the only change to the heads being the valve diameter reduces flow. When GM went to 2.02 valves in 1964 the chamber wall was machined to allow for greater clearances between the outside diameter of intake valve and the chamber wall. This increased the flow and the HP.
I see the 2.02 conversion on 461's all the time. It raises the valve in the head which is good. But they make less HP, go figure. I always look for the chamber machining when I see these heads for sale. You can even purchase a cutter that duplicates the factory machining process. Very few re-builders seem to machine the wall for some reason. Guess it's the extra cost and all the customers sees is the 2.02. In my opinion these heads should not be used on any modern HP build as there as so many better options now. Leave them for the NCRS guys!

Thank you Richard and Tom! It was a wrestling match but we finally goy
the login and photo challenge tackled. As you can see, I hop, the head
shows the left side of the 'humps' ground down. Only one end of each head
              was done this way.
