A-6 compressor yellow TEST OK CHEVY stamp, when did they stop using it.

Not much known about date code position an back plates and now getting some questions about the yellow stamp. What year did the stop using the yellow stamp?

Dom -- not getting much action here; guess no air cars. Does this question have to do with the update to the '65 TIM&JG? If so, this is a little early, as it's off a " ...133" compressor from an early '64 (Belair ? -- got it at a Pomona swap meet), rear head cast J183; but at least it's unrestored -- hey, even the spelling of "refrigerant" is correct . The stamped serial # is 85NC1885.

If this is for the '65 manual update, are they gonna ask about the 6-hole clutch hub ? (ie. when did it go to 3 large rectangles)

      Wayne,
Actually I was asking about the yellow stamp because in the restoration of the C-3 compressors it is not known when they stopped using the stamp.
I saw a documented 1970 without the stamp and a 5" pulley instead of a 5 3/4 pulley. I did C3 compressors and they all had the larger 5 3/4 pulleys. I started keeping records as to what is on the compressors and where the date code is on the back plate. There was another thread about the yellow stamp back in 2011 that had O response.
BTW, nice find, does your compressor have 3 or 4 mounting holes (3/8x18) on the back plate? Also the serial # raises another question I have. When did they go from the serial # which is on yours to the mm/dd/y/shift in the foil code box?

        Wayne,
Forgot to comment on your pulley. looks like a 5 3/4". Thought they were only on the Corvette, and the 5" on the passenger cars.

            Peter,
            Thanks,
Just got a PM about the 1970 and no yellow stamp. the C2's all had them and now to find out if the 1968 and 1969 had the yellow stamp.

                  Brian,
Are you saying that January 67 was the last yellow stamp, or is that the build date of the compressor that got the last yellow stamp? I have seen lots of 67 compressors with the yellow stamps.
