    Consumer Guide & 2015 Corvette

Consumer Guide is reporting the 2015 Corvette as the 4th worst vehicle of the testing they have done. Apparently the motor blew up on the testing schedule.

In the case of the C7 Z06 getting the DNF in recent test, I don't believed the engine "Blew Up" I think it just wouldn't make boost. The Engineers tried to blame it on bad gas. Which seem pretty lame because all the cars they were testing used the same gas pump. I have no idea why they wouldn't have had a backup car available at such a high profile event.

OK, it was C&D that had the engine blow. I just did some more Googling about it.
Either way, there are too many of them going kaboom at low mileage.

I would agree, if an engine doesn't have the reliability of a 4 cylinder Toyota it's branded as unreliable. Comparing a Supercar with cookie cutter rental car is ridiculous.

The internet doesn't help either when it comes to hyperbolic rumors flying around.

There were similar things flying around the internet 15 years ago when a few '01 LS5 engines has excessive oil consumption. I had several folks ask me at the time how much oil it's burning? I've never had to add more then a quart between changes.

I have always felt Consumers has had a love affair with the imports for decades. I have always believed the average American car buyer drive their cars harder and take less care of then those who buy imports. I own a 2014 Malibu and it is one of the best made cars I have even owned in 40 plus years. The fit and finish is perfect and the car rides like cars twice its price. Chevrolet has come a long way and the imports have nothing on them. I doubt they would make the Corvette with less quality and care considering it costs 3 times what the Malibu does.

                        HI:

I picked up my 2015 2LT roadster on December 31st of 2014. So far it has had one issue -- that being the touch display --- a couple of hours at the dealership and the car is just fine...this was a known recall for all new Corvettes, Impalas and the entire Cadillac line. (No charge of course) Echoing other sentiments --- this has been an excellent car. It is an 8 speed automatic, PDR, 2LT, Performance exhaust etc etc.... its acceleration is in a word "BLISTERING" ---- it stops on a dime and corners like no other Corvette I have ever owned... the paddle shift automatic is superb.... I only have two small picks with this car...rear visibility is a bit dicey and the cockpit is noticeably smaller than my C6 Grandsport was. Other than that----I would buy this car again in a heart beat --- pun intended!!!!!!!

                        Regards
                        Bill

New one on the left old one on the right ---

I drop by the dealership weekly for deliveries and pickups. Every week there is several LT engines there for a bit of work. Seems as if Chevy likes the nice blue color of the crankshafts especially the ZO6.
Still love them and wish I had a nice dark color Corvette 2015. Would if I could afford to eat and drive one at the same time.

The long term report of the C7 whose engine disintegrated is in the current issue of Car and Driver, not Consumer something . GM acknowledged problems with new generation engines. Read it. Don't be defensive just because it's a Corvette.

As I recall, one of the car mags refused to road test the 1968 Corvette because of quality issues. Still, I'd like to have a '68 and '16 in the garage.

Just because a car's engine overheats or blows up once in awhile, and the door handle comes off in your hand doesn't mean it isn't a cool ride.
