    Metal tag on 66 Muncie

    Is there supposed to be one with 7-digit part number attached to a side cover bolt. Nothing about it in the JG thay I found. Thanks

      It is my understanding the transmission tag was a factory installed item and the various numbers correlated to the transmission application. It is not a judged item, same as the trans VIN or date stamping are not judged by NCRS

          Don,
          Thanks. I pretty much assumed as much, but since the other JG's spell it out and the 66 manual doesn't, I just thought I'd double check.

              Mike, found this on my 66 M21, original to car with L36. Only 5 digits.

                  Bruce - if you take that tag off probably going to find numbers under the bolt or what's left of them.

                  The '66 L36 Muncie tag called out in the AIM is 3880855. 7 digits. The 5 digits you posted are the end numbers of that tag
