    67 wiper motor problems

Is there anything you can do externally to find out why the wiper motor only works on one speed and not two speed. I tried a new switch and got only one speed. The washers work just fine? It was restored my well known person who has been doing it for years.

Also if it needs to be removed how hard of a job is it to do with a factory AC car with a BB. Can I get to everything by removing the glove box?

You can test it on the car. Here's a link to a video from Willcox Corvette. To make it easier it helps to have the connector for the wiring with some wires coming out of it to clip jumpers to. Also make sure you have a good ground to the wiper motor case.

      Keith,
Don is correct. After rebuilding 2 in the shop, both only ran on 1 speed and the can be a bear to work on. I installed the wiper motor and 1 speed only then as I started to sweat looking failure in the eye I felt t 12V tingle at the switch that was not yet mounted. I had one hand on the switch and the other on the grounded cluster. I put a jumper to the switch and had both speeds. The switch also needs to be grounded. I checked the ground also at the wiper and made sure (with a meter ) that it was truly grounded. I think the blower motor and wiper motor have the same ground. But also make sure the cluster is grounded after installing the switch.
The book test procedure can be a bit hard to follow.

        Keith,

you can test it without removing the motor by using jumper after unplugging. I don't remember which ones to touch but basically use the ground and touch one of the 3 terminals for slow and one for fast. I would call Steve Hackel and he can walk you through it. he is also the best to restore. he guarantees his work for life of the motor regardless if its been sold. Steve's number is708-687-4183
