        And the bolts holding the caliper halves together were not painted.

            I've used the black caliper paint (VHT, I believe) and it worked quite well.

                    Turns out the caliper I have are the incorrect numbers for the car so I stopped rebuilding them--although they looked great. I have someone who will sell me these rear calipers that were for a 72 and purchased 20 years ago. Do these look original or are they reproductions??? Any way to tell? Need to know before purchasing.

                            Lone Star has been making new ones for a few years now. I believe they are using the original molds.
                            I have installed them on one car, and of course there were no problems since they are essentially identical parts.

                                No easy way to tell, but these have obviously been repainted.
                                Given the evidence of paint over corrosion, I suspect that these are originals that were rebuilt and repainted.

                                    The color appears grey not black but with pictures who knows.
