    Fastener finish

Hello all! Is it likely/possible that all fasteners with the same part number would have the same finish on early C-3's? For instance part #9409107 -screw is located in at least 3 places that I found: Rear deck lid bumper bracket to rear deck lid (convertible), rear deck lid cable clip to lid (convertible), and hood support to hood. Or, depending on where they were to used, could the plating/finish be different. It would seem to me that a part manufacturer given specs for a particular fastener's part number would have no idea where it would be used unless it was part of an assembly also made at that vendor. Or the specs could reference several acceptable finishes and multiple vendors could finish them as they wish. Thanks for your input!

The finish would be the same for every usage, as the GM drawings for that part number specified a particular finish be used. If the finish changed, so did the part number. In the extreme, sometimes GM had eight different part numbers for the same part, the only difference being the finish.

There were a few GM parts where either zinc and cadmium were optional, but they were usually not fasteners, as the performance difference between the two platings (though they looked similar) were very significant and, therefore, not considered interchangeable.
